Oasis Weekly Gathering, Friday, April 27th

Every family has its problems. Some more than others. Yet, there's good
news! God will still use messed up homes to work out His salvation.

This week we'll explore the account of how Jacob received the blessing
of Abraham. This story is full of deception, favoritism and family
dysfunction, and yet the grace of God shines through it all giving us
the hope that God's grace can shine through all of the dysfunction,
favoritism, and deception we encounter. Wow. Come check it out.

	Upcoming Stuff:

Summer
Camps
staff has been hired, but we're looking for several volunteers. Please email Pastor Jason if you're interested in participating. I'm very excited about having our first Martial
arts camp with Chuck O'Neil, and two weeks of dance camp with Gregory Hines.
Both of these guys have excellent credentials, and seek to glorify God and
promote the gospel in what they do.
May
5th Pastor Bob's Deck Destroying Party! We still need some students to destroy his
deck. Let your leaders know if you're interested in helping out!
 Bridge Builders July 9th -13th -
get involved in this grass roots initiative
that I believe is very beneficial for the proliferation of the gospel in
Malvern.

Genesis 24 "A Match Made in Heaven"

 How does God guide us?
Should we expect Him to? This short account of how Isaac came to meet
his wife Rebekah will help us see some incredible things about God's
loyal love to his people and complete control over all circumstances and
all things.

Oasis Weekly Gathering, Friday April 13th

Genesis 22:1,2
'After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here am I." He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."'

Many have read or heard of the story of Abraham being commanded by God to offer up his only son, the son he loved, as a sacrifice, and many have wrestled with it for obvious reasons. Why was this ever asked of Abraham? What did it accomplish? How do we see the gospel in this ancient account?

Join us this Friday as we explore this pivotal passage in the book of Genesis and its implications for us.

	UPCOMING STUFF:
	- Last week to get your resumes in for Summer Camps positions
	- Pastor Bob is still hoping to get some help from any who are willing to tear down his deck. Fun and fellowship are promised

The LOVE MOVEMENT is back!

This Friday we're looking at love - how God defines it. Since God himself is love, we do well to know and live according to His definition of it in the Bible.

Oasis will be going through a session that includes video, open dialogue and practical projects to express love itself. We'll also be filmed in the process for the Love Movement's TV series. Hope to see you there!

to hear God's Word from a faithful preacher, Paul Washer.

We'll be meeting at Morningstar at 6:45pm and leaving at 7pm sharp - the event

Oasis Weekly Gathering, Friday March 2nd

This Friday we're back in Genesis - chapters 16-17. These chapters deal
with God's covenant with Abraham and his two sons: Ishmael and Isaac -
one was the child of faithlessness, the other the child of God's
promise, but God in His grace blessed both.

 We see in this covenant
the requirement of a physical circumcision, but in the New Covenant,
the reality of a spiritual circumcision, one that deals with our very
hearts. Why does this matter to us today? How does this promise from God
to Abraham have any bearing on us today? Come and find out!

Oasis Gathering, Friday, Feb 24th

Is 'Youth Group' a good thing? What does the Bible actually say about
youth ministry? Do you know what the 'church' is? Are you really a part
of the church? How should we change?

This Friday we're taking a look in the mirror to see if what we do every week is in line with
God's wisdom and His Word. We care deeply about what God has to say
about the matter, and we care about the students God has brought to us
(that's you) so we want to get this right for God's glory and your joy.
To help us along we'll be discussing the documentary 'Divided' and
looking at some key passages in Scripture.

	Hope to see you there!

Oasis Gathering Friday, Feb 17th

This week we'll be taking a brief break from our study in Genesis and
watching a stunning documentary called 'God of Wonders'. This
documentary makes a compelling argument that the universe is not an
accidental and 'un-caused' eruption of space, time and matter, but the creation of an intelligent being. From the complex structure of DNA
to the incomprehensible size of the universe, the film shows the amazing aspects of the universe and world we live in which points to a divine plan.

Since we're spending our time in Genesis I thought this would help us
consider the evidence of God's handiwork in the world and the universe
He made. We'll be spending time discussing some of the points of the
argument in small groups. Bring a friend!

Oasis Gathering, Friday Feb 10th

This Friday we're continuing our walk through of the book of Genesis, chapter 15 - God's covenant with Abram. So far we've been looking at the Bible's account of creation, humanities fall from glory, and God's justice and mercy in dealing with our rebel race. This Friday we'll look at a further development of God's incredible plan to bring people back to a right relationship with Himself. How do God's promises to a man living in the ancient near east relate to us today? You'll be surprised. Come and find out!

Love Movement TV Recording Feb 11th

Hi Oasis students,

Love Movement is an organization that is seeking to unite the body of Christ on a common platform and a shared vision:to develop a more biblical understanding of love, relationships and service. (Matthew 22:37-39) http://lovemovement.org/

They've asked us if we'd be willing to help by engaging with their curriculum and appearing on their television series.

Saturday, Feb 11th they'll be filming at Morningstar (11:30am -9pm) and we'll need as many of you who'd like to be a part of this exciting project to show up. Yes, you'll be on TV, but more importantly, you'll be able to join in the work God is doing through this ministry.

For those of you who'd like to remain behind the scenes but help out anyway, there's room for you too!

 Hope to see you there!

Evangelism Training - The Way of the Master Feb 5th 6pm

Hi everyone,

There's a great opportunity coming up that will help you be better equipped to share the hope in Jesus Christ with others. It's called the Way of the Master and is being taught by one of my good friends, Ryan Sinclair. Please take advantage of this opportunity. Here's what Ryan has to say:

The Way of the Master is an in-depth study of how Jesus evangelized and will
ignite in our hearts a burning desire to share the Gospel with everyone we know,
regardless of their age, religious background, level of education, or feelings
about Christianity.

In addition to using the law in evangelism to witness
to all types of people, I plan to cover topics like:

Evangelism and the Sovereignty of God - how should this affect how I
evangelize?
What to do when things appear to go wrong
The role of apologetics in witnessing
	"Follow-ups" and Discipleship

Here are the details:

Way of the Master Basic Training Course @ Morningstar
starts on February 5th from 6-8 pm. It will run for 6 weeks and the cost is
free.
The registration link online is here for those who want to sign up: http://www.morningstarfellowship.ca/way-of-the-master-training-c944.php

Hi everyone,

This week in Genesis 13-14 Scott will take us through the episode of Abram's life when he and his nephew Lot go their separate ways. In a surprising turn of events Lot is taken captive as a prisoner of war, and Abram is (miraculously) able to save him from a superior military force, and then out of the blue a mysterious figure shows up who's name is....

Find out why this matters to us today and how this all points to the gospel this Friday. Hope to see you there!

This week we're looking at the Bible's account of the Flood - Rumor has it that Hollywood's actually working on a movie of Noah and the Flood. What's more helpful though is understanding the real story.

Why did God destroy the world in the ancient past?
Why did He do it by a Flood?
What evidence is there of a worldwide flood?
How does this correspond to the gospel of Jesus Christ?
