A Community Lighthouse is a Connection Group or home that has committed itself and has been commissioned by the church to be a "mission-center" within its neighbourhood.
It is a house known by its community as a witness for God. Neighbours know this house has a genuine burden for the neighbourhood. Neighbours can to come to this house if they want to know about God or if they want to discuss spiritual matters. Comfort is found here. Love is found here.
A house is identified as a Community Lighthouse by a sign on their window or lawn displaying a picture of a lighthouse, as seen on the left.
During Bridge Builders, teams will be sent to the various lighthouses to perform acts of kindness, thereby granting visibility for the lighthouses. The Connection Group, the "household" of the Community Lighthouse, is essential for long term presence and follow-up.
"We are told to let our light shine, and if it does, we won't need to tell anybody it does. Lighthouses don't fire cannons to call attention to their shining--they just shine." - Dwight L. Moody |
