Is 'Youth Group' a good thing? What does the Bible actually say about
youth ministry? Do you know what the 'church' is? Are you really a part
of the church? How should we change?
This Friday we're taking a look in the mirror to see if what we do every week is in line with
God's wisdom and His Word. We care deeply about what God has to say
about the matter, and we care about the students God has brought to us
(that's you) so we want to get this right for God's glory and your joy.
To help us along we'll be discussing the documentary 'Divided' and
looking at some key passages in Scripture.
This week we'll be taking a brief break from our study in Genesis and
watching a stunning documentary called 'God of Wonders'. This
documentary makes a compelling argument that the universe is not an
accidental and 'un-caused' eruption of space, time and matter, but the creation of an intelligent being. From the complex structure of DNA
to the incomprehensible size of the universe, the film shows the amazing aspects of the universe and world we live in which points to a divine plan.
Since we're spending our time in Genesis I thought this would help us
consider the evidence of God's handiwork in the world and the universe
He made. We'll be spending time discussing some of the points of the
argument in small groups. Bring a friend!
This Friday we're continuing our walk through of the book of Genesis, chapter 15 - God's covenant with Abram. So far we've been looking at the Bible's account of creation, humanities fall from glory, and God's justice and mercy in dealing with our rebel race. This Friday we'll look at a further development of God's incredible plan to bring people back to a right relationship with Himself. How do God's promises to a man living in the ancient near east relate to us today? You'll be surprised. Come and find out!

Love Movement is an organization that is seeking to unite the body of Christ on a common platform and a shared vision:to develop a more biblical understanding of love, relationships and service. (Matthew 22:37-39) http://lovemovement.org/
They've asked us if we'd be willing to help by engaging with their curriculum and appearing on their television series.
Saturday, Feb 11th they'll be filming at Morningstar (11:30am -9pm) and we'll need as many of you who'd like to be a part of this exciting project to show up. Yes, you'll be on TV, but more importantly, you'll be able to join in the work God is doing through this ministry.
For those of you who'd like to remain behind the scenes but help out anyway, there's room for you too!
There's a great opportunity coming up that will help you be better equipped to share the hope in Jesus Christ with others. It's called the Way of the Master and is being taught by one of my good friends, Ryan Sinclair. Please take advantage of this opportunity. Here's what Ryan has to say:
The Way of the Master is an in-depth study of how Jesus evangelized and will
ignite in our hearts a burning desire to share the Gospel with everyone we know,
regardless of their age, religious background, level of education, or feelings
about Christianity.
In addition to using the law in evangelism to witness
to all types of people, I plan to cover topics like:
Evangelism and the Sovereignty of God - how should this affect how I
evangelize?
This week in Genesis 13-14 Scott will take us through the episode of Abram's life when he and his nephew Lot go their separate ways. In a surprising turn of events Lot is taken captive as a prisoner of war, and Abram is (miraculously) able to save him from a superior military force, and then out of the blue a mysterious figure shows up who's name is....
Find out why this matters to us today and how this all points to the gospel this Friday. Hope to see you there!
This week we'll continue our study of the book of beginnings, Genesis chapter 12 - the call of Abram.
Three major world religions consider Abram (Abraham) to be the founding father of their faith (Judaism, Islam, and Christianity). Join us as we seek to understand why God's call and covenant with Abram is significant to us today and how it connects to the gospel of Jesus Christ.
This Friday, Jan 6th, students will be heading up to OCD (Ontario Camp for the Deaf) for our annual winter retreat.
The bus will be leaving at 6pm so students will need to arrive by 5:30pm to pack up and board the bus. We'll be returning on Sunday, Jan 8th at 4:30pm.
We'll look forward to seeing you back on Friday, January 13th for the first gathering of 2012!
