There is a cost for everything in the World. The same is true with following Christ. Jesus taught his disciples in Matthew 19:24 "Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up the cross and follow me". By this Jesus means that committing to follow him will require a big change in our attitude and is expecting us to put Christ first in everything in our lives. Paul was the best example of someone who lived out this command. After his encounter with Christ, everything in his life was Christ. That is why he was able to boldly confess in Philippians 3: 7-9 "But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. 8. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ 9. and be found in Him..."
